FULL TRANSCRIPT OF LADY GAGA’S “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL” REPEAL SPEECH

Source: MTV
Good afternoon. Can you all hear me?
I wrote this speech, this address, myself, I’ve spent 48 hours trying to find the perfect thing to say. My address to you today is called “The Prime Rib of America.”
I do, solemnly swear, or affirm, that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States, against all enemies foreign and domestic, and I will bear true faith and allegiance to do the same, and I will obey the orders of the president of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the uniform code of military justice, so help me God.
Unless, there’s a gay soldier in my unit, sir.
That is the oath taken every day by service members of the Armed Forces when they enlist to serve their country. Equality is the prime rib of America, but because I’m gay, I don’t get to enjoy the greatest cut of meat my country has to offer. There are amazing heroes here today, whose stories are more powerful that any story I could tell, any fight I’ve ever fought, and any song that I could tell. I’m here because they inspire me. I’m here because I believe in them. I’m here because “don’t ask, don’t tell” is wrong. … It’s unjust, and fundamentally, it is against all that we stand for as Americans.
The Pentagon and senators such as John McCain have cited that the military is a unique institution, they have cited that homosexuals serving openly cause disruption to unit cohesion and morale. So what this means is, that they’re saying that straight soldiers feel uncomfortable around gay soldiers, and sometimes it causes tension, hostility and possible performance inadequacies for straight soldiers who are homophobic. And even though some studies have been done to show an overwhelming and remarkable lack of disruption to units with gay soldiers, I will, for a moment, entertain this debate. As I am less concerned with refuting the fact that, in the workplace, in any workplace, there are tensions, there is even more of a possibility to have tension when you’re fighting for your life. But I’m more concerned that John McCain and other Republican senators are using homophobia as a defense in their argument. As the nexus of this law, openly gay soldiers affect unit cohesion, like it’s OK to discriminate or discharge gay soldiers because we are homophobic, we are uncomfortable, and we do not agree with homosexuality, and I can’t focus on the field of duty when I am fighting. “We have a problem with you.” Wasn’t that the defense of Matthew Shepard’s murderers? When they left him to die on a fence in Laramie, they told the judge, ‘Oh, Matthew’s gay, and it made us uncomfortable, so we killed him.’ ‘Oh, he’s gay, it makes me uncomfortable, send him home.’ As a side note, both Matthew Shepard’s killers have life sentences in prison, and laws have since been passed that homophobia cannot be used as defense anymore in hate crimes in our judicial system.
Doesn’t it seem to be that “don’t ask, don’t tell” is backwards? Doesn’t it seem to be that, based on the Constitution of the United States, that we’re penalizing the wrong soldier? Doesn’t it seem to you that we should send home the prejudiced, the straight soldier who hates the gay soldier, the straight soldier whose performance in the military is affected because he is homophobic, the straight soldier who has prejudice in his heart, in the space where the military asks him to hold our core American values, he instead holds and harbors hate, and he gets to stay and fight for our country? He gets the honor, but we gay soldiers, who harbor no hatred, no prejudice, no phobia, we’re sent home? I am here today because I would like to propose a new law; a law that sends home the soldier that has the problem. Our new law is called “if you don’t like it, go home.” A law that discharges the soldier with the issue, the law that discharges the soldier with the real problem, the homophobic soldier that has the real negative effect on unit cohesion. A law that sends home the homophobe, a law that sends home the prejudiced. A law that doesn’t prosecute the gay soldier who fights for equality with no problem, but prosecutes the straight soldier who fights against it. Or perhaps that was a bit spun. … To be fair, it sends home the straight soldier who fights for some freedoms, for some equalities, but not for the equality of the gay. He is the one — or she is the one — under this new proposition who will be discharged for disrupting the military. If you are not committed to perform with excellence as a United States soldier because you don’t believe in full equality, go home. If you are not honorable enough to fight without prejudice, go home. If you are not capable of keeping your oath to the Armed Forces to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic, and I will bear true faith and allegiance to do the same, unless there’s a gay soldier in my unit, then go home.
Or, moreover, if you serve this country, is it acceptable to be a cafeteria American soldier? Can you choose some things from the Constitution to put on your plate, but not others? A buffet, perhaps. I’m not talking about citizens — we have a right to grieve, to protest, we have a right to this rally — but I’m talking about soldiers. Should the military be allowed to treat Constitutional rights like a cafeteria? In the military, is it acceptable to be a cafeteria American? What I mean to say is, should soldiers and the government be able to pick and choose what we are fighting for in the Constitution or who we are fighting for? I wasn’t aware of this ambiguity in our Constitution. I thought the Constitution was ultimate. I thought equality was non-negotiable. And, let’s say, if the government can pick and choose who they’re fighting for, as exemplified in laws like “don’t ask, don’t tell,” shouldn’t we as Americans be made aware of this imbalance? Shouldn’t it be made clear to the citizens of this country, before we go to war, shouldn’t I be made aware ahead of time that some of us are just not included in that fight? “We’re going to war for you and you and you and you, but not you, because you’re gay.” You can risk your life for this country, but in the end, you’re not fighting for yourself; you’re fighting for straight people. … You are not included. You are not included when we say “equal.” You are not even fully included when we say “freedom.”
I’m here today in this park, in Maine, to say that, if the Senate and the president are not going to repeal this “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, perhaps they should be more clear with us about who the military is fighting for, who our tax dollars are supporting and, ultimately, how much does the prime rib cost? Because I thought this was an “all you can eat” buffet. This equality stuff, I thought equality meant everyone. But apparently, for certain value meals, for certain civil rights, I have to pay extra, because I’m gay. I’m allowed to stand in a line next to other men and women, I’m allowed to get shot at and shoot a gun to protect myself and my nation, but when it’s time to order my meal, when it’s time to benefit from the freedoms of the Constitution that I protect and fight for, I have to pay extra. I shouldn’t have to pay extra. I should have the ability, the opportunity, the right to enjoy the same rights — the same piece of meat — that my fellow soldiers, fellow straight soldiers, already have included in their Meal of Rights. It’s prime rib, it’s the same size, it’s the same grade, the same cost, at wholesale cost, and it’s in the Constitution.
My name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta. I am an American citizen, to the senate, to Americans, to Senator Olympia Snowe, Senator Susan Collins — both from Maine — and Senator Scott Brown of Massachusetts. Equality is the prime rib of America. Equality is the prime rib of what we stand for as a nation. And I don’t get to enjoy the greatest cut of meat that my country has to offer. Are you listening? Shouldn’t everyone deserve the right to wear the same meat dress that I did? Repeal “don’t ask, don’t tell” or go home. Go home. Thank you.

"ibuku pernah jadi tukang cuci" justin bieber

Dia selalu bepergian denganku setiap hari. Aku bersamanya 24 jam,” ungkapnya. uuuuu justin chayank mamak-_____-

gaya paling heboh GAGA!

1. Lensa kontak ala animasi Jepang

pria ingin berganti kelamin menjadi mirip lady gaga

SEORANG pria asal Bulgaria berencana melakukan operasi kelamin demi menjadi mirip penyanyi Lady Gaga.

Gaga talks about her stylist landing mugler gig

After it was announced that Lady Gaga's personal stylist Nicola Formichetti was to become creative director of top Parisian fashion house Thierry Mugler, we wondered how the superstar would react. Surely this meant that her creative powerhouse Mr Formichetti would have less time to devote to her crazy-paving designer ensembles ? Would she be hurt? Furious?

Not Gaga. She chose to publicly wish Nicola Formichetti well in this moving statement/declaration of loyalty:

'Blood pumps through Nicola's veins like perfume and cigarettes. His brain throbs with misfit royalty, glamour as punk survival, attitude as liberation, style as revolution. Thierry Mugler has a way with legendary lifestyle and Nicola is just that: Epic Lifestyle, Freakdom, Gorgeous or Die, The "fuck" in future poetry, the street in High-Fashion. Nicola Formichetti is Fashion's Freedom. I love him, my friend the genius, my collaborator, more than any piece of clothing or closet I possess. But don't tell him I said that, he'll die. He picked them all out.'

Hmmmmmm. Quite right, Gaga. But Gaga, who’s going to organise people to run you up your beef and giblet frocks now?

Lilly Allen has taken to Twitter to clarify a joke she made about Lady Gaga's gender.

The 25-year-old singer was on stage at the Big Chill festival in the UK when a concert-goer threw a potato onto the stage.
The tater was wrapped in a message, which she read to the crowd, The Express reports.
"It says, 'Show me your penis'. They must have mistaken me for Lady Gaga," Allen quipped, referring to rumours that the Bad Romance singer is a hermaphrodite.
Allen took to Twitter to clear up her comments, posting, "Everyone knows I am ladygagas biggest fan. So don't believe the bullshit.
I'm a little monster and NO ONE can take that away from me!"

LADY GAGA BACKS SENATE LEADER’S VOTE CALL

Lady GaGa has voiced her support for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s vote on repealing the US military’s ban of openly gay and lesbian personnel.
The singer, who picked up eight MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, is a vocal supporter of gay rights, having previously tweeted about her opposition to Proposition 8.
Speaking on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the star blasted the current “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy which bans servicemen and women from being open about their sexuality.
The AP reports that following the appearance, Senator Reid’s staff exchanged tweets with GaGa. A vote on repealing the legislation is scheduled for next week, although a spokesman for the senator insisted that it had already been scheduled prior to GaGa’s talkshow appearance.
Responding to the announcement of a vote on Twitter, GaGa told followers: “God Bless and thank you HarryReid, from all of us, like you, who believe in equality and the dream of this country. We were BORN THIS WAY. (sic)”

THE STORY OF LADY GAGA’S MEAT DRESS

Jaws dropped when Lady Gaga took the stage at the 2010 Video Music Awards last night wearing meat from head to toe. And, surprise — her VMA meat dress was made with REAL MEAT! Franc Fernandez, the Los Angeles-based designer/artist behind the dress, confirmed that it was real meat when we caught up with him this morning. But now that we know it’s REAL, we’re left with so many more burning questions for Franc Fernandez! Did it smell? Was it bloody? Was it heavy? Was Lady Gaga comfortable? So, we chatted with designer Franc Fernandez tonight to find out all the juicy details. Find out everything you ever wanted to know about Lady Gaga’s meat dress below!
What was your inspiration?
Franc Fernandez: “I was contacted by her stylist, Nicola Formichetti, and they had already shot the picture with Terry Richardson in the meat bikini for Vogue Hommes Japan. They told me that they wanted to make a main dress [out of meat], so I did it.”
What kind of meat was it?
“I don’t know what it’s called in English, but in Argentina, it’s called matambre. I went to my butcher to get it, in Los Angeles in the valley. He’s the butcher that my family goes to. I’m trying to get him a signed picture of it.”
How many pounds of meat did you buy?
“I bought a lot of meat because I wanted extra. I would say more than 50 pounds of meat. Is that a lot?”
How heavy was it?
“It was fairly heavy. She said it was the most comfortable dress of the night, though. I’m guessing it weighed around forty pounds. It’s built on a corset, so the weight is distributed on her chest, so it’s not like it’s hanging off her neck.”
Was it comfortable?
“She said so.”
Were there leftovers?
“Not very much, no.”
Did it leave a blood trail?
“No, not at all. It’s actually very clean meat, very sturdy and strong and doesn’t run at all. It’s the meat you use to make a roast, where you roll it in a tortilla and put it in the oven. Hence, the shoes — that’s why they were wrapped in butcher twine.”
Did it smell?
“Gaga said it smelled good. It had a sweet smell. It hadn’t been sitting out for more than five hours. And it’s not a heavy gross meat.”
Did you have to keep it refrigerated?
“While it was being made it was refrigerated, [worked on] and then refrigerated. It took a span of two days on and off. Maybe three with sourcing and getting materials and everything.”
Will this dress “go bad”?
“Well, yes. And it’s a dress that will dry out. The meat dries out, rather than rotting. It becomes jerky. But, it shouldn’t be worn again.”

Was the look designed, or did you drape it naturally?
“I just did the meat. You can’t really design something that we’re making out of organic pieces. It’s like ‘This piece can go here,’ and you look at the cuts you have and you drape it.”
How do you drape meat?
“I’ve done some draping, it just seemed logical to me. The way I was doing it, nothing about it was much of a challenge, except for the time it took. I had helping hands that were great. It was just sewing through meat, which is a little weird, but it’s not rocket science. I just used regular string, some stronger thread, nothing unusual.”
What did it feel like on Lady Gaga’s body?
“There was a corset but the rest of it was skin on skin. Initially it was cold, but then it warmed up. Not too much, though. She said she wasn’t warm at all, especially under those lights, it didn’t heat up.”
Did Gaga have to be sewn into the dress?
“She went in through the bottom. Some of it she was sewn into. I was backstage.”
Did you treat the meat with any preservatives?
“No, not at all.”
How did you transport the dress?
“I’m in Los Angeles. So, I had a little cooler that I carried it in — its own little coffin.”
When Lady Gaga sat down, did the meat rub onto the chair upholstery?
“Well, it shouldn’t have because it’s not a sticky meat. It’s not a messy dress at all, surprisingly. But I didn’t see the seat after she sat on it. But I’ve been handling that meat for two days and there is nothing messy about it.”
What would the dress feel like? Like for Cher and those who touched it?
“It would feel like meat I suppose. It’s all natural.”
What happens to the meat dress now?
“The dress will be put in an archive with all of her dresses. The Gaga Archives, I suppose. It won’t last, that’s the beauty of it. When it is brought out again, hopefully it will be in a retrospective, and it will be a different dress, which is the best thing. I like the idea of it changing and evolving into something else. My butcher said I could taxidermy it if I wanted it to stay the way it is, and I didn’t want to stay that way. Seems like a waste to keep it that way, than to watch it change.”
How did you come up with the idea of butcher strings on her shoes?
“I was referencing the whole meat theme. I bought the strings at a butcher supply store.”
What were the crystal pieces on her meat purse?
“It’s an antique brooch that was applied to the meat.”
Gaga said this dress represents that we shouldn’t be treated like a piece of meat. What does this dress represent for you?
“I have to agree with her. I just think it looked great.”
Where is it now?
“I’m not sure. She has people who handle everything, so it’s with them.”
Would you create this look again?
“I think it’s just that—it’s just the meat dress. There’s not going to be meat dresses in the future. This was made for a specific purpose. It’s what it is.”
When you saw her wear this dress, what went through your mind?
“She’s wearing my meat dress! It just looked great on her and she made it look easy and things come very naturally to her.”

KATY PERRY TALKS LADY GAGA’S MEAT DRESS

The Lady Gaga meat dress was one of the over-the-top outfits worn by Lady Gaga who won multiple awards at the MTV Video Music Awards. Gaga’s outfits shocked and even offended some, but Katy Perry is not among that group, as reported at MTV.
Just meat?
Are Lady Gaga’s fashion statements just fashion statements or is Gaga trying to convey something more? The Lady Gaga meat dress was probably the most shocking of the many outfits we’ve seen on the 24-year-old pop sensation. But according to Gaga, the dress was more than just meat. Said Gaga about the Franc Fernandez creation, “It has many interpretations, but for me this evening, it’s ‘If we don’t stand up for what we believe in, we don’t fight for our rights, pretty soon we’re gonna have as much rights as the meat on our bones.’” Lady Gaga, who has been outspoken about her thoughts on gay rights, brought men and women to the MTV Video Music Awards who were discharged from the military due to Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.
Over-the-top but doing it right says Katy Perry
According to Katy Perry, Lady Gaga’s outfits may be shocking, but they’re not just shocking for shocking sake. “The costumes are the bells and whistles and bells and whistles can be really fun, but you have to have the spine, and I think that with Gaga, she’s got the spine and she’s got the costume,” said Perry, who was particularly appreciative of Gaga’s Alexander McQueen dress. “I thought the Alexander McQueen outfit was stunning,” said Perry.
The 25-year-old Katy Perry, herself, has been known to appear in outfits that others may not have the balls to wear. Whether she has fuzzy dice all over her dress, a big picture of Obama plastered on her front or a carousel as a skirt, she has branded herself as the California girl who just wants to have fun. As serious as Lady Gaga wants to be with her Lady Gaga meat dress? No. Katy Perry has never been that deep and doesn’t pretend to be. But at least she sticks to a theme.

Lady GaGa: ‘New album is rock crossover’

Lady GaGa hopes her new album will be a rock crossover record that will “reach the masses”.
The singer, who recently debuted a track on tour called ‘You and I’ from the widely anticipated LP, said the track doesn’t reflect the sound of the whole record, but hopes it will have widespread appeal.
“I wrote the song just to write a beautiful song and I intend to put it on the new album, yes,” GaGa told RWD.
“But it’s not totally indicative of the new album sound; it’s just a really big rock and roll hit. I do have these hopes that it could be a great crossover record, so I’m going to put my producer’s hat on and get it to a place where I feel like it could reach the masses.
“It’s a beautiful, beautiful lyric and melody.”
GaGa also discussed her longevity in the music industry, claiming her Monster Ball tour has become a “religion” for her fans.
“I think that I’m, in the best kind of way, as irrelevant as I am relevant and it’s the timing of when the music came and when the show came. Also, the thing is, the show has become a religion for me and my fans.
“In that way it’s about so much more than the music, the clothes or me. It’s about the togetherness of music and culture.”
GaGa’s new album, Born This Way, is slated for release next year.
